We hope everyone had an excellent Thanksgiving! As we celebrate the holidays, we wanted to revisit a topic we've touched on several times before Week 5: the board.

2D representation of the board with 3D models for space identification

You'll see the layout of said board above, with each color representing one of the many spaces you'll either be passing or landing on in a game of Project ATX. As we continue forward with development, we'd like to further detail what each of these spaces means for you:

Green squares represent Planets: passing a planet rewards a small amount of passengers, while landing on one rewards a large amount of passengers. The goal of Project ATX is to rescue as many passengers as possible, and these spaces are the main way to achieve this!

Blue squares represent Positive Card Spaces: landing on a card space refills your movement cards up to the max amount of movement card slots you have. Players start out with 3 movement card slots, but keep a look out on how to increase this limit!

Red squares (with a red 3D model) represent Negative Card Spaces: landing on one of these will cause you to lose a random movement card from your hand.

Red spaces (with a white 3D model) represent Lose a Turn Spaces: as the name implies, landing on these spaces will cause you to lose your next turn. Not so good for you, but imagine the satisfaction of pushing someone else onto it...

Black spaces (with a black 3D model) represent Shortcut Spaces: follow the arrows when landing on these spaces to move to an entirely new spot on the board. Maybe you'll pick up something useful along the way!

Black spaces (with a white 3D model) represent Chance Spaces: land on a Chance Space to activate a random affect. It could be something beneficial, like an item or passengers. Then again, chance may not be on your side (beware the UFO)!

Finally, the three circles represent Stations: these are one of the main destinations of the board as you can deposit your passengers, securing them towards your total score. While you pass by, why don't you check if anyone needs your help on a quest too? There are worthwhile rewards to be had for good work...

Draft of the board with directional arrows to show your path

With our card-based movement system (check out our last post - #4 Lean, Green, Our Cards are in the Machine - to see how it works) you can move on a mostly linear path throughout the board. The red circle in the photo above shows the starting position for all players at the start of the game. You alternate moving inwards and outwards on a spine (indicated by the arrows) and move clockwise to the next spine when you get to the end of the one you're in. Continue circling the board until the game ends!

Check back in next week where we'll give a glimpse into a potential new art style we'll be trying out. From our friends and family (and dogs) to yours, Happy Holidays!
