You've heard about the Battle Minigame, but have you heard of the Duel Minigame? Of course you haven't, because this steaming, fresh pie of fun was pulled out of the oven only moments ago. Go ahead, take a whiff:
The scent colors your mind, offering you a glimpse of your future...
You've been lucky enough to land on a Duel Space, and realize you're even luckier as you're presented with the choice of who you want to go toe-to-toe against. That's right. That yellow guy been pestering you your entire game (and life)? Seize the opportunity to attempt to introduce them to an entirely different type of pie: Defeat Pie (it's scent brings sadness).
The visions jump ahead in time, showing you the trailer of Super Nova Party starting at 1:13. Yes, the vision reminds you of your battleground, weapon, and objective - be the last player standing. Pro tip: Unlike the Battle Minigame, no AI will be present. That's right, your destiny is entirely up to you and your opponent.

Succeed in your quest to defeat your opponent and you'll be rewarded with the opportunity to play a Precision Card after returning to the board. In other words, win a Duel Minigame and you can guarantee where you'll land on your next turn. Maximal Strategy.
Oh, but lose - immeasurable pain & suffering. Well, actually it can be measured in that a number of your banked Pods will be pilfered by the victor. Yes, you'll be the loser in the minigame and potentially the whole party.
